Day Thirty-one - Luxor to Edfu and Kom Ombo SPONSORED BY PAI E MÃE

Friday 2nd July 2010

I'm writing this a week after actually doing these things so my memory is a bit sketchy.

We stopped at Edfu, saw a temple (they do all look the same some are bigger and/or better preserved) but not being an Egyptologist I can't really see too much difference. We were back on the boat by 10o'clock and went straight back to bed, sleeping until lunchtime, ate lunch and sailed to Kom Ombo.

Kom Ombo was slightly different in that the temple there was a double one, divided in two the left side dedicated to Iris and the right side to Sobek a crocodile god. Djalma decided to stay behind and watch Brazil get thrashed by Netherlands so I walked around with Katherine and her family. We got back to the boat and I sat with them talking on the top deck the evening heat just bearable. Djalma and I joined them for dinner (trying to make the most of their company before leaving the next day), which was the best meal since being on board. We all went upstairs and sat on the top deck drinking beer, the extortionate price swallowed by their generous sharing of their all inclusive drinks. It was a lovely evening, talking, drinking and lot of laughing.
