Well Hanoi's entry is even shorter, we ate a lot of salads, walked around the old quarter a bit and I did some yoga.
At some point we followed the walking tour through the old quarter, which was mainly little shops. Streets of shops all selling clothes, another street with hardware stores and so on. I wish I could write more but having gotten out of Vietnam I'm not all that keen to revisit it. Sorry. I'll try and do better with Laos...
On our last night in Hanoi, we decided to have a stroll round the rather pretty lake, it was uneventful and therfore rather nice.
We booked flights to Luang Prabang in the North of Laos, on the way to the bus station I saw dogs. On the butchers chopping board, grotty. The flight was pretty cool, we had a couple of Beer Lao's and congratulated ourselves on lasting a month in Vietnam without falling apart/killing someone/being killed by mental ticket sellers with knives.
(Sorry to the people who love dogs, and that includes my Nan)
Landing in Laos we shared a taxi with a couple of American's a guy and his Mum (she hated it as much as I did, more in fact) and found ourselves a nice hotel run by lovely smiling people and by 11pm we were tucked in and sleeping some good relaxed Lao sleep. Heaven.
